The Real Kind, Not Just a Buzzword
Sustainability
Everyone’s talking about sustainability these days. It looks great on websites, packaging, even business cards. But for us, it’s not a trend — it’s just common sense.
Our sourdough bread-making kit exists because we believe that doing things by hand tastes better, feels better, and — with a bit of thought — can do less harm to the planet and the people on it.
We’re not perfect (yet), but here’s where we are and where we’re headed.

Respect for Animals (No Drama, Just Basics)
Our kit doesn’t require any animal to be involved, harmed or disturbed. We don’t use animal-based ingredients, and we avoid practices that destroy their homes.
We’re here to make bread — not mess with ecosystems, nests, or nests of ecosystems.

Materials That Make Sense (and Look Good Too)
We wanted our kit to be beautiful, useful, and as responsible as possible. So we went with:
-
Natural wood – renewable, sturdy and zero fuss.
-
Stainless steel – strong, practical and built to last.
-
Handmade Rattan banneton from Indonesia – crafted by real people using traditional techniques. No mega-factories, no soul-sucking production lines.
-
Recyclable cardboard box – because bread doesn’t need luxury packaging that ends up in the bin.
Do we use a little plastic? Yes, for now. A few items are protected by small plastic sleeves. Not ideal — and we’re working on better alternatives. Watch this space.
Made by People, Not Faceless Supply Chains
This kit wasn’t made at the expense of anyone’s dignity. That matters to us — a lot.
-
No child labour. Ever.
-
No shady factories or exploitative workshops.
-
We work with small producers and cooperatives where craftsmanship is valued, fair pay is non-negotiable, and no one’s forced to skip lunch.
We want everyone involved to feel proud of what they make (and hopefully enjoy a good loaf themselves).

Packaging That Doesn’t Overdo IT
Presentation is nice. But not at the planet’s expense. So:
-
Our packaging is 100% recyclable.
-
We’re actively phasing out all single-use plastics.
-
Our goal? Packaging that’s either reusable, compostable, or — at the very least — guilt-free.
Still a work in progress? Yes. Already making changes? Absolutely.
Packaging That Doesn’t Overdo IT
You could’ve picked any stylish bread kit. But you chose one that actually gives a damn. One that’s trying to respect people, nature, and the process behind the product — not just how it looks in photos.
Thanks for being part of this slow-rise revolution.
If our dough rises and the planet does too, we’ll call that a win.
The Future: More Than Just Good Intentions
Here’s what we’re working on (soon, not someday):
-
Completely plastic-free kits
-
Working only with ethically and environmentally certified suppliers
-
A return-and-reuse scheme for certain kit components
-
Supporting carbon offsetting and reforestation projects
We want baking bread to be part of a healthier cycle — not just in your kitchen, but on this planet.
